Is the Samsung HMX-Q10 a good camcorder

I will be ordering a Samsung HMX-Q10 next week, is it good for simple HD recording at $196, I can't say my room is well-lighted but I can't say it's low-lighted either

I won't use it's mic for the recording I will also buy a condenser mic which I don't know how to start recording them at the same time, thus I will make another thread

You can use a 'clicker' to synchronize the camcorder and separate audio tracks. It just makes a sharp sound on the audio recording of both devices after they both start recording.

Then you align the 'click' from the camera audio and separate audio in your video editor. Once they are in sync, you can disable or delete the camera audio and use the separate audio for your video.

Someone else here might give you a better idea on how to do this with your editing software or have a better method, but that's what works for me.

What video editor do you plan to use for this?

I plan to use premiere pro for video then maybe sound forge pro for audio, then just sync the edited audio to premiere

Sorry, no idea. I got mine from a parent after I promised to never bring it back to the kids as they were driving them crazy with it. It's a small metal kids toy, but it works well. Movie studios have used a clapper board that works the same to keep everything synced for quite a few years.:



But two pieces of hard wood with a small hinge will work well enough. You just need a sharp, quick sound that is easy to spot in the graphic display of an audio editor. Even snapping your fingers will work if you can do that well. You just need a sound that you can record with the camcorder and your audio recorder at exactly the same time. Align those two and you are synced.

Cut the video with audio off up to the click, then do the same with the separately recorded audio, save both with no compression. Then mux (Combine) the separate audio to the video and your sync should be perfect. Then you can edit as you like.

Yes, you want the audio and video recorder both running and up to speed before you put in your sync marker. It's easy enough to cut that part out in editing.
