I have XP on an Acer laptop. Can anyone tell me why it takes two tries before it shuts down using 'Turn off computer'?

That's a common problem with computers that are loaded with junk. Give it a good cleaning with software like Malwarebytes and CCleaner(including CCleaner's registry cleaner).

Of course. It's not called didikaiCleaner so CCleaner is smarter than didikai.
