I normally use Virtualdubmod to cut up videos, resize and crop

I've got used to the interface - I love it!

    BUT: it's very outdated now

What other open source tools should I use instead to: cut up videos, resize + crop?

    Thanks

erm... i couldn't really comment on how it looks - i didn't really have anything against the original
i've tried it out and was a little confused how to use - things are in different places now!

question: can i only output as avi?
to be honest, when i've worked with it, i've never ever had the need to out put to any other format anyway!
    just wondering

    thanks

I think hech was likely referring to the fact that you mentioned "the latest version of virtualdubmod looks great" (emphasis mine) Either that, or the fact that VirtualDub's GUI hasn't really changed much at all over the years. I use the latest versions of VirtualDub, but there are still things I find easier to do in VirtualDubMod, like work with the audio and subtitle streams in an AVI.

Yes, VirtualDub only outputs to AVI.
