  1. I have a video that is in dual audio (Japanese and English) and I want to delete the Japanese audio from the video. Is there any way to do tis easily? Or do I have to strip the audio and video apart, then take apart the audio and merge the audio and video together again? If so, how do I do this?

What type of video is it? (AVI, MKV, OGM, MP4, etc.)

If it's an AVI, you can use VirtualDubMod. Load the AVI, then go to Streams > Stream List and disable the audio track you don't want. Save the video (making sure Direct Stream Copy is selected at the bottom of the Save dialog), with a different filename.

VirtualDubMod can do the same for an OGM, but its MKV support is outdated, so it's better not to use it for MKVs.

  3. Thanks for the help but i seem to be having problems running the program. I went to the link and saved ther file to my computer. When I tried to run the program, it put up a dialog box witht he title: "Compressed (zipped) Folders Warning" with this in it: This application may depend on other compressed file in this folder.

For this application to run properly it is recommended that you first extract all files.

It then has three options, Extract, Run, or Cancel
When i select extract, it makes a copy of the files and the same problem happens again. When i select run I get this error: This application has failed to start because corona.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I don't want to Re-install it because I can see the exact file name right in front of me! Can you help me on this?

  4. Extract everything in the ZIP file to a folder on your hard drive. Then run the EXE from there.

  5. thanks, I just wasn't sure why it needed to be extracted since it was all right there. But hey, it works and that's all i wanted

  6. When you view a ZIP archive from Explorer you are seeing the contents of the archive. If you double click on an EXE file it (and only it) is extacted to a temporary location and run from there. If the EXE relies on other files in the archive it will not run properly.

First, try loading the MKV in VirtualDubMod. (Yeah, I know I recommended not to use it above, but I'm including this method just in case.) If VirtualDubMod doesn't give you any errors when you load the MKV, you can use the above method for AVI/OGM to remove the extra streams.

Otherwise, you may need to demux the MKV using MKVExtractGUI with mkvtoolnix (install both in the same directory), manually remove the extra streams, then remux with MKVMerge.

jagabo, will mkvmerge allow you to do all that without demuxing the MKV, first? I'll admit I haven't had much reason to experiment with mkvmerge, yet.

  10. Regading MkvMerge GUI: I don't have any MKV files with multiple audio streams but I was able to open an MKV file, deselect the audio stream, and save only the video to a new MKV file. So I assume the OP can remove one audio stream from a file with two.

darn! it gave me a billion messages saying this:MKV: A frame of stream 1 (at [random#] ms) had only a forward reference (maybe broken file). Then near the bottom it said: MKV: Video frames seems to be weirdly ordered., MKV: Subtitle stream (4) contains overlapping subtitles. Some of them may not be kept when editing., MKV: The video may have a variable framerate. If so we strongly advise you to use another tool to safely process your file., Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'yyyy' (unknown).

I hope this help you uys to help me in some way, cause i had to type this all out, I couldn't copy/paste. and just so you know, i'm not just sitting back and waiting for you to tell me what to do, I'm trying to figure it out too although i'm getting no where.>_<

EDIT: do you think that it would help to convert it to AVI?

It's one of the types of MKV that VirtualDubMod doesn't support, then. (Primarily, it appears to be because of the AVC video.) Try what jagabo suggested, and see if mkvmerge will allow you to delete one of the audio streams. (Experiment on a copy of the video, not the original, of course. )

    Maybe.

What do you mean slow? Just a slow frame rate? Plays a few frames then stops and jerks forward several frames? Audio and video out of sync? Was it slow before you removed one of the audio streams? What is the frame size and video codec? MPEG4 AVC takes quite a bit of CPU power if the frame size is large. You can get information about the MKV file with MediaInfo.

  16. sorry, I messed up. I didn't know it would play any different on another computer. What I did was I downloaded the video on a different computer and it played fine so I thought it would on my home computer too. It was my mistake not to check it out before I started asking questions.

The original video size is 640x480. I'm not sure what codec is being used but when I play the MKV I get two icons in the bottom right corner near the clock(the taskbar right?). One is "ffdshow video decoder" and the other is "DirectVobSub" How can I find what codec I'm using? Sorry about the lack of detail before, I still gotta get used to giving as much detail as possible.

  17. MediaInfo will give you all the details about an MKV file (and just about every other kind of A/V file).

  18. ok I used that program and foundout that the codec was MPEG-4 AVC. So now I think that it might just be my computer.....

  19. Try playing with VLC. It has a built in AVC decoder that seems to be pretty fast. CoreAVC is also reputed to be fast.
