  1. I have a movie [Nightmare on Elm Street: New Nightmare] on my computer in VIDEO_TS format. There are 8 VTS files. Video_TS, VTS_01 - VTS_07.

This movie is orignally a Pal format and i used IFOEdit to convert to NTSC. It will now play on my DVD player but with a problem. That problem is that it plays in either French or Dutch.

After inserting the DVD into the player im given an option of language [French flag or Netherland Flag], the movie will then load into the main menu [play movie/scene selection/etc]. Once the movie begins to play it will play in the respected language chosen at the beginning of the load. I'm looking for it to play in English.

After talking with a guy on Afterdawn he suggested i try using PGCEdit but the problem still arised as both of us were stumped. He suggested i try this site. I'm not too experienced in using Pgcedit or changing language in dvd's. Can someone walk me through how to fix this annoying problem?

Can i use IFOEdit to change each Audio Line, is PGCedit the right choice to use, or is there another easier more efficient way of solving this problem?

    Thank you

I am curious why you changed it from PAL to NTSC. Would your player not play it as it was?

  5. Are you saying that the only way to get the English audio is to use the remote control to switch to English after the movie starts? And you're sure there's English audio in there, you've heard it?

If you don't care about the other languages at all and intend to only watch it in English, I'd first skip over the language choice menu by following this PGCEdit guide (it'll require that you choose one of those 2 languages, but that's only temporary):

    http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/third_party/blutach/How_to_use_PgcEdit_new_macro.htm

Since the guide was written the 'Jump To PGC Upon DVD Insert' has moved to the PGC Tab from the Macros Tab as in the guide. By doing that successfully you'll start at the main menu ready to hit the 'Play' button.

This next part tells the language to switch to English when the movie starts. First, find out which number the English audio is by hitting the green reel of film icon in the top right which will open a new screen showing you the audio and subtitle languages and their numbering. Then go back to the main screen and highlight the movie itself in the left panel. In the right panel first highlight (left-click) and then right-click on the Pre-Command at the top and 'Add After'. That will create a new line saying 'NOP'. Double-click on the 'NOP' and a new window will open, the 'PGC Command Editor'. Hit 'Alphabetically', and then 'Set STN'. Go Audio->Set To-> (whatever number the English audio is). 'OK' back to the main screen, and the 'NOP' should have changed to a line mentioning the audio. Save and test in a software DVD player (one such as PowerDVD), before burning to disc.

I am curious as to why he would have a PAL version of the dvd when his location is the U.S.

Buy the actual dvd in the U.S. and you will get an ENGLISH audio track!!!

Or learn how to read and download an illegal copy in the correct format so you don't have to convert from PAL to NTSC and end up with foreign languages other than english!!

And after only an hour you are already bumping your own thread because you did not get an answer right away ?
