    Hi

I have a DVD with a Hindi language track. It has English subtitles, so I can understand it, but there is a strange problem. For some reason, the audio doesn't play on one of my standalone DVD players (I have two). I have already used PGCedit to make the subtitles default to On so that I don't have to use the remote to turn them on every time.
Is there a way to open up the DVD files and tell them that the language track is EN - English instead of HI - Hindi? I know the words will still be in Hindi, but I figured that this way I'll get maximum compatibility.

    Thanks!

PGCEdit should let you change the language designation, although I am not sure it will solve your problem.

Will I need to change any references or anything to that language? Or will just changing it from HI to EN change everything I need?

And why don't you think it'll work?

    Thank you for your help!

Like guns1inger, I don't think it'll solve your problem. Open the DVD in PGCEdit. Highlight the movie and hit the green reel-of-film icon near the top right of the main screen. In the new screen you can assign or change the audio language designation.

    Well I changed it successfully.

Why don't you think it'll solve my problem? (I'm burning now to see if it has or not.)

The problem is more likely to be an authoring or encoding problem with the audio track, than it is to be the label of the track.

That's what I thought at first too. But it works in my second, newer standalone player.
Would the audio working in one standalone, but not another still indicate an authoring or encoding problem?

    Thanks again!

I should have just listened to you guys. You were right, it still doesn't work.

Do you know why? I used AVStodvd.
