Subtitles as part of movie?

Hi all. I have ben ripping DVD's for about a year now (cos me very clever), never had many probs, and those I have had I found the answer to on this site. However. Me ripping Godfather movies at moment. I know how to rip subtitles, but in the English version of the movies there are subtitles as part of the movie, such as when the characters are speaking Eyetalian, and the subs show what they say in English. Where, how and how do I rip these subs? After doing a near perfect copy they are missing from the final VCD.

hrm...i have ripped all of the godfather movies...to SVCD.....the subtitles were hardcoded onto the video itself...you shouldn't have to do anything extra....

so far, the only movies i've encountered where they didn't hardcode the subitles for non-english scenes is traffic....but one of the subtitle tracks has just the subtitles for the spanish-speaking scenes...
