I just installed a Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP card in my system, and the thing is fantastic in every way except after I shut down the PVR (either from the desktop or with the remote) the sound from the card starts playing again about a minute later. The software will be completely shut down, and everything seems normal, until about a minute later sound from the TV card starts magically playing through my speakers. At this point, the only way to stop it is to turn the PVR back on, mute it, and leave it on. I have the Leadtek audio output connected to the AUX connector on my sound card. I am running WinXP. Any suggestions, please!? This is very frustrating!

If you haven't already done so I would suggest going to the Leadtek site and get the latest PVR and drivers. That won't specifically address your problem (AFAIK) but you never know.

    I'm having similar issue.
It's when I try to use my web cam when the sound is from the TV card instead of the mic connected to the PC.
The only way to solve is to start the PVR software once and then shut down.
Sometimes I have to run the wizard in the web cam software to set up the web cam as capture device as it seems the WinFast PVR is stealing the priority.

I guess it is driver/software problem but Leadtek might be not aware of it.

  7. roc383,

Please try the "Instant Messenger" setting if the Norton AntiVirus is installed.

  8. BogieV,

It is caused by the recording line is NOT set to MIC in the software you are using (You can use "Windows Volume Control" to monitor it).
The bug is caused by the software you are using, not WInfast software.

There are many ways to change the audio source in the "Instant Messenger" software.
Most of "Instant Messenger" softwares have the "Audio/Video Tuning Wizard".
But I prefer to use the "Windows Volume Control" to set the recording line on-the-fly.

I actually figured out my problem. I dont know if it will help anyone else, but here goes...

I dont fully understand how/why this works, but my audio card (older Turtle Beach Santa Cruz 5.1 card) has a mix section where you can enable or mute various inputs. I muted the aux input. When the PVR comes on, the mute is automatically removed. When I shut down the PVR, the mute is reapplied. I dont know if this is the correct fix, but it works!

Now, anyone know why all I get from the FM portion of the card is static?

Have you plugged the antennae in? I had that card and the reception was great BTW.

I guess the word I wanted was generic driver, not after market. Anyway, I saw this as highly recommended. It is a BT878 chipset driver from Sourceforge. I couldnt get it to install correctly though, so I dumped it.

As for plugging the antennae in, ofcourse it is! I double checked to make sure it was fully seated and happy, and it was. I dunno. It cant find any radio stations. Just static.

  13. roc383,

You mean that the WinFast FM can not scan any radio stations at all ?

PS. The WinFast TV2000 XP EXPERT uses the Conexant CX23883 chip.
The WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe/WinFast TV2000 XP RM/WinFast TV2000 XP FM use the BT878 chip

Awe crap. I guess that explains why the BT878 drivers didnt go in! Thanks for that info!

And yes, I WinFast FM will now scan any radio stations. It goes through the whole band with picking up anything. Just static.

  15. roc383,

Could you check the connection of FM antenna ?

FM antennae is absolutely connected. I even disconnected it, checked to make sure nothing was bent or damaged, reconnected, and verified it was fully seated. Still nothing but static. Perhaps I have a bum FM tuner/defective card?

  17. roc383,

Do you know the version of the TV2000 XP EXPERT driver which you have installed ?
    5.13.1.3314 ?
    5.13.1.3310 ?
    5.13.1.1309 ?
    4.0.107.3204 ?

    tw1965a,

I just updated to 5.13.1.3310 yesterday, from the Leadtek site. They claim the .1309 is for home theatre set up, and I didnt see a .3314. Im going to look for that now.

  19. roc383,

    The driver 5.13.1.3310 is OK.
If radio stations are scanned by WinFast FM, but no audio (static),
use the Windows Volume Control to verify aux input of sound card.

If none radio station is scanned by WinFast FM, you may have a bum FM tuner/defective card.

Okay, here it is... someone please explain this to me, because I sure as heck can't figure it out. My FM is working now. Yesterday I was going to double check the mix settings in audio control, but before I did I turned Winfast FM on first and it played just fine. I had no idea why, as I didnt think I did anything different. So, I counted my blessings and let it be. Today, I go to check it again, and I get either no sound or just static. So, I start playing around, and here is what I find - If I start a movie (dvd format, but ripped to hard drive) in a media player (in this instance, Ulead DVD player), the radio audio then comes through with the movie audio. I can then turn the media player off, and radio will continue to work. I can switch back and forth between PVR and Winfast FM, no problem. Only when I completely exit the tuner software for a while, then try to go back does the FM sound not play. So. What the heck does Ulead DVD player have to do with Winfast FM??? As weird as it seems, it is not coincidence, as the circumstances are repeatable.

  21. roc383,

The WinFast PVR on the Leadtek website is the older one (3.0.10.20).
You can download the latest WinFast PVR from the following link :

Thanks for this input, I adjusted several other aux inputs and it solved my problem!

You also might want to consider updating your Windows XP to SP3. You will probably find a lot of your system issues with drivers resolved.
