    Hello, everyone.

I would like to know the solution to the following question:

    I have two disks:

    disk 0 - C: and D: ( 250 GB )
    disk 1 - E: F: and G: ( 1 TB )

    (Windows XP sp2)

I want to aggregate C: and D: , so disk 0 does'nt have any partition.
But C: has the OS installed.
How can I to do that in the following cases:
    a) If it is possible to do the work without to erase XP.
    b) If it is not possible what can I do.

    Thanks a lot.

    Cheers.

    1) grab a copy of GPARTED CD and burn a copy
    2) move stuff off D: drive
    3) boot CD, reduce D: partition size, expand C: partition size
    4) boot Windows
    5) move stuff that was on D: to now larger C: drive
    6) repeat 2-5 till D: empty
    7) boot CD, delete D: partition, expand C: to whole disk

OK, TJohns. It seems a little confusing but understandable. My drive D: is empty. I think, in my case, I must suppress the points 2), 5) and 6). Or also eliminate points 4) and 5) ?

    Thank you very much, TJohns.

hech54 - With disks so great, for me is indispensable to divide them in two or three.

    Cheers.

If D: is empty, just delete D: and expand the C: partion size to full disk in GParted. Backup any critical data first.

When finished it is a good idea to defrag your C: drive in XP. The files will be scattered.

I downloaded GPARTED and burned it in a CD.
The CD has 4 folders and 2 files ( COPYING and Gparted-Live-Version ) no .exe?
    How can I execute GPARTED?

Gparted is a livecd. Meaning you put the disc in the cdtray and boot your computer to the cd. It will load a live minimal linux operating system. Then you use gparted there.

GParted does what Partition Magic used to do without the constant $upgrades for NTFS and large drives. It is free from a simple Linux boot.

  13. Hopefully you will not loose the entire contents of both drives due to partition instability related to GPartEd. Been at least 2 or 3 months since one of those showed up.

You can not fully Avoid partitions, you have to have at least ONE. What you can avoid, and I absolutely recommend, is not to MESS WITH a partition structure in ANY WAY, SHAPE, or FORM. In the future, keep your partition structure as simple as possible.
