    What's the supported audio format? Will ac3 at 128k work (2 channel home video)?

    64 to 640 kbit/s for avchd dolby digital audio,1.5 Mbit/s (2 channels) for linear pcm(2 channel).

    does your cam not record the audio in better quality? i thought the standard was 192 - 384 kbps...
