Ok I tried to load hd-dvd evos into multiavchd. It loaded them with no problem (build 750 - haven't gotten 770 yet).

What I couldn't figure out was how to merge and export the main movie only.

    -----------------------------------

What I am doing right now is using ripbot264 to output an mkv with a single main audio track. After thats done (looks like 8 hours on two pass mode - dual core amd x2 2.7ghz processor) I will load that into multiavchd so I can play it on a dual layer dvdr (ala avchd) on my ps3.

    -----------------------------------------------

What I would like to do is skip the mkv step with ripbot264 and do a direct encode to avchd - yes I know it won't be any faster but the process will be streamlined.

My ultimate goal is to convert the hd-dvds to avchd with multiple soundtracks. Some of my hd-dvds have commentary tracks that I don't have on my official dvd releases that I can play without conversions. ***IS it possible to have an avchd with more than 1 audio track?*****

    Thanks in advance.

I also plan on taking some mkv conversions I did of other hd-dvds I have and convert those to avchd. I do have a wdtv media player but I just don't seem to use it much. I just still like popping in a disc. I guess part of me still wants something physical to play - maybe I just don't still trust harddrive video playback (I don't know what it is but I would like to do the hd-dvd to avhcd conversions - and if you can help me streamline the process I'd appreciate it - and I know its going to take up to 12 hours or so on my dual core pc - thats understood up front). FYI I only have a dozen or so hd-dvds to do and several of them already have a mkv backup made so those I can pop right into multiavchd and be done with it - those I already have mkv's of I don't think I need extra soundtracks so that will be a simple straight conversion.

edit - yes I know adding more soundtracks will decrease the available space for video quality - thats ok on some of these - the outputted 720p I'm downscaling to will be better than upconverted dvds so even dropping the max bitrate of a dual layer dvdr avchd will still be worth it to me.

    I've never tried this but....

Have you tried taking the mkv file made with Ribot264 and open it with TsRemux and adding the second audio file then saving it to AVCHD? Of course, there will no menu.

Thanks for the suggestion. Hadn't thought of that.

But I did find the area to add the audio. In Multiavchd select the video file you added. Then click properties - in the properties window there is an audio tab. It lets you add and remove audio tracks. Seems to work just fine. I'm about to process it so hopefully everything is all set.

FYI they were ac3 files and I was able to add two additional tracks for 3 total - hopefully I'll fit to a dual layer or any additional transcoding won't take long.....
