A standard PAL 16:9 DVD (720x576) I made gave disappointing results on a cousin's Toshiba TV. It slightly flattened the result and cut off parts of the sides. His TV was set to 'Wide', which I think is what some would label 16:9. Other options in settings were worse. However, his other TV gave correct results.
I examined the Toshiba user guide and found a setting option called Autoformat, which was ON. I had to leave his house before I could watch the entire DVD again with this OFF, but a quick test seemed positive.
Is this likely to have been the cause of the aspect problem please?

Assuming the DVD is OK, don't see what else it could be.
Is the DVD OK?
