Sup dudes, I am burning some videos with optional subtitle within (sometimes I don't want watch the movie with any subtitle). Wich program would do that? I am trying out with TMPGEnc Authoring Works. Yet, I haven't finished any project because I am dealing a snag on subtitles matter. First, how do I use OCR via Tesseract for BR portuguese? (This I solved. But there is common word in our language for "it" wich is not recognized. Is there how to add words? )
Second, there is a scene where credits are shown in bottom, right in the begining of the movie. In that part I want to subtitles move a little up, so everything originally from the movie can be read. Afterwards, subtitles should go down back to previous position. How I manage to do that?

  2. MaestroSBT has the ability to add words to a line of dialog and also to place individual subs in different locations. It'll make SON or SST format subs for use in various authoring programs. However, it accepts only SSA format text subtitles as input. In fact, you can set up the SSAs themselves with the subs in the locations you want using SubStation Alpha.

I have no idea what Tesseract is. And almost all authoring programs allow the addition of some sort of sub files to make them selectable when playing the DVD. Different authoring programs support different kinds of subs.

    What format?
If SRT then you can just edit them in a text editor. Or for more power, Subtitle Workshop.

For that you can use DVDSubedit after you've authored the fileset, you can move individual subs wherever you want.

Or as manono suggests, if you can use SSA subs, MaestroSBT lets you do that in the original subtitle text file.

Actually they are sub/idx format. I had to convert to .srt to import for TMPGEnc Authoring Works. I converted using Subtitle Edit 2.9.3. With it, the OCR method was OCR via Tesseract wich transform the subtitle in text therefore saves as .srt.
...almost all authoring programs allow the addition of some sort of sub files to make them selectable...
Now occurs me a simple way. What authoring program would import subtitle in sub/idx, therefore no need for converting.

SUB/IDX are easily convertd to SUP (another bitmap format), using eg SubToSup.
Then many authoring apps can accept SUP subtitles, eg GfD.

However, the colours may change, you can set these before or after authoring using DVDSubedit.
