  1. in a number of posts, i have noticed that u can burn more than 700MB worth of data on a 700MB CDR using Nero. I have a 722MB DivX AVI file. Is there anyway, I can store this in a 700MB CDR? If possible, how should I do it in Nero 5.5?

  2. mura,
the most ive done is 720mb and it was a divx file as well.
With nero you can overburn (if your burner can support overburn), nero will tell you if your drive can overburn, and it will read your cdr'z capacity (something like 79:59:01 or so). It may or may not have problems reading afterwards. Mine was okay though. It was nice to have a great quality movie on one cd, even it was only playable on da pc.

You could also reencode the file, lower the audio and change it to may mp3 audio to lower the file size down if you cant overburn.

  3. Mura, the reason this works is that VCD and SVCD are burned in CD/XA mode, which is where 2324 bytes are burned in a sector vs. 2048 bytes for a data CD, which allows about 13% more data to fit on the CD at the expense of error recovery bits (that's what the extra 2324 - 2048 bytes are used for on data CDs). However, it's a very special format and as far as I know, you can't burn anything but MPeg files (or audio file) this way.
