I’m looking for options to solve my problem of the A1 repeatedly failing to successfully transfer/export data direct to tape from the master timelines. Even with all non essential processes disabled in my PC & the internet being disconnected, at random times the transfer stops and another attempt had to be made until I gave up.
I’ve had it suggested that I spend $1,000 or more to beef up my PC or have one built.
I do have access to a Canon HV-30 which in the past yielded a couple of successful attempts where the A1 had failed.
So, now for the dumb and ‘uninformed” question:
Will there any difference in quality if I use a HV-30 as compared to an A1 to do the job?
Is the recording circuitry in the HV-30 sub-standard to the A1 and therefore maybe the outcome to tape via the HV-30 wouldn’t be as good?
Hope not…… don’t know!
All thoughts and comments welcome.
Thanks

Are you still using Premiere Pro CS3 ?
I can do this any day in Vegas Pro to HV20 or Sony HVR-Z1U although didn't print to tape when I had a Canon XH-A1 for a week. I wish I had that camcorder to compare. It was superior to either of mine.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Hi EdDV,
Yeah, it's still me and CS3. What to do? How have you been in the past couple of weeks?
I've heard very few good things said about CS4 here and elsewhere. $299 to upgrade to that.
CS5 requires a significant cash outlay (over 1k) as I'd need to seriously upgrade my computing capabilities and upgrade the software.
Someone suggested I get a beefed up PC for around 1k and simply stick with CS3.
I can't understand why I can import from tape into the PC day and night with a 100% success rate with HDV Split with an A1.
On the flip side, I get about a 95% failure rate exporting to tape on the A1 from Prem CS 3.2 timeline even with the internet disconnected & all unneccesary processes disabled.
Maybe it's that version of CS3, however it's costly to find out with CS5 due to all of the requirements/PC specs.
There's no guarantee. -
I suspect a flaw in CS3 but who knows?
Problem to forum is this. Premiere CS3 timeline to HDV format. CS3 only does "print to tape" in theory...
Alt is export to a Blu-Ray format.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
