Please help me make HDV export to tape work

    With Windows 7/Prem Pro CS 5.5.2 & a I7-2600 (2nd gen) processor/No CUDA

Can't get the greyed out area to go black and access this function no matter what's tried.

    Camcorder is a Canon A1s

    1) Turned auto save off.
    2) Disabled all unessential processes including the internet and all security apps.
    3) Tried exporting straight from the project timeline and also as a single file.
    4) A1s is connected properly to the PC because HDV Split recognizes the cam just fine for importing.
    5) Software processing engine only/No CUDA.
    6) Device control is HDV/DV.
    7) Followed all online advice and how to's on the subject that I could find.
    8) Selected the timeline. Work task bar covers the project 100%. Stem to stern.

Am I just unlucky or what?

Please me rescue the situation as I want to archive to tape.

Is there a known conflict with the A1s and CS 5.5.2?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have your manual? First, go to pages 81 and 82 to make sure you know the procedure for setting up device control for your firewire link. They will also show you how to test your connection to make sure everything is set up. Then, skip over to page 446 and read the section on exporting HDV to tape with device control. Even without device control, you can export manually. (See page 447.) This is basically an RTFM issue, and I neither have the time, nor the inclination, to write the steps down myself.

Oh, and make sure your project settings are the exact format as what's recorded on your A1. It ain't gonna work otherwise.

works here ok. the only thing i can think of that might be wrong is that the original project has to be hdv 30i for it to export to tape as far as i know. it won't work at hdv 30p for me anyway. but it does at 30i to my canon hv30.

don't forget the cam has to be in HDV play mode with a tape in and plugged into the comp for the export to tape option to be available. check with HDVsplit to make sure the cam is hooked up before starting pp.

I was successful with a borrowed HV 30 or was it a 40?

The A1 would stop unpredictably while partway into the render and record process.

One of my A1s's should be able to handle the job!

    More soon.

HDV Split has always worked like a charm for me.

I rarely use CS 5.5 to import footage into the PC.

HDV Split has almost always recognized the A1s very quickly.
