Easy & free Way to Translate Subs

I could not find the English subs anywhere for a particular French movie, only Spanish or Portuguese subs seemed to be available, so I tried 'Subtitle Workshop4' which apparently has the translation feature, unfortunately could not get this to work & did notice many other users seem to have the same problem.
However I have found a relatively simple & free way to translate subs. Using Subtitle workshop4 I loaded the Spanish subs, now click file, then save as choosing the 'DVD subtitle system' extension (.txt). Using a non formatting text editor (I used Crimson editor which is free) load the file and now click file select all & then copy all the highlighted text. Now open Windows explorer (or what ever you use) and go to Google translate & paste all the copied text into the translation box. Now choose the Spanish option (or what ever the source language is) and choose the output language which in my case is English, click translate and within a few seconds Google would have done its job, copy all the new text and paste back into your editor software making sure all the old text is deleted. Save the pasted text to a new file using the same format as the original, IE .txt.
Now using 'Subtitle Workshop4' click 'file' and click 'load subtitle' and load your saved translation. You should now be able to check synchronisation etc just by using 'Subtitle Workshop4', adjust as necessary.
Finally save the file to the format required in my case was an .srt file, & now using vobsub & virtual dub you can now burn the subs into the movie.

Only problem with that is that Google Translator sucks for just about any translation. I suppose it's better than nothing though.

Yeah, I thought so.

I've seen worse computer translations than Google's though. Actually, Google's is in general pretty good for something that's free.

Perhaps if you mentioned what film it is we could find subs for it?

The movie is Le Concert

I know its not an ideal but I've always found Google translation really good.
