HI all,
Need some help. I've got a foreign movie (Divx format) but as yet subtitles in English are ot yet available for download. I've found the same move, but in .RMVB format where the subtitles are chinese & hardcoded. Is there anyway I can rip the Chinese subtitles into a seperate .srt file & then find a program that will be able to translate it into English? If so, I'll be able to create English subtitles, so I can watch the foreign film I've been able to find.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together! :)

It's difficult, if not impossible to rip hardcoded subs with automated software
-
No. Forget it.
1 - Chinese .srt OCRed from a RMVB? Not likely.
2 - Auto-translation from Chinese to English? Even less likely.
(Not likely) * (Even less likely) = Not a chance.

Thanks guys,
did think it would be unlikely, but was worth a try.. lolDon't you just love it when a plan comes together! :) -
What's the movie's name ?
It is possible to translate to Chinese the subtitles, but you need a text file like srt, it is also possible to use an online service for translation but the results will be... well lets say you may know the theme of the movie and that's it.
For Chinese to English translation one must use a pro service. -
wang22 - While we appreciate you trying to be helpful, we strongly discourage people from posting to old threads. Before you posted here, the last post was more than one year ago - Dec. 30, 2007. Mr. Luberman has not logged into this website since June 9, 2008. That is one of the reasons why we discourage people from posting to old threads - the person who wanted help may not ever read your post.
We get a lot of members who lose interest after a few months and never return. Some people join, ask one question, and then never return after they receive an answer. In most cases if a thread has not had a new post in several months, it's best to not post to it. -
I don't agree.
The date of the OP isn't relevant to someone who has the same problem and is searching for a solution.
Even a discouraging answer is helpful inasmuch as it can steer someone from a possible dead end - and why bother having a search function on site - God bless the 'wang22's' of the internet. -
Hi all,
Thanks Wang22 for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't have the Chinese subs as a text file as they're hardcoded into the movie
Jman98,
I'm not trying to flame you, but I do visit this site very often, but only login if I want to reply to a post or ask a question.Don't you just love it when a plan comes together! :) -
Mr Luberman, u still intersting in ripping hardsubbed chinese? U can try to use AVISubdetector, but it's more like "Type" whole sub than "Rip".
