Now i have to keep switching cables into monitor from 360 and computer. i am planning on buying a VGA box to be able
to switch sources through the box. my Q is when i do that if i download a capture service on my computer will i be able to record the 360 footage when its on or do i have to buy a capture card. if i have to get a capture card could someone suggest a extremely cheap method or a really cheap capture card...like 50$??

    Your help is deeply appreciated.

Filling out your profile completely (where in the world are you?), mentioning your gaming habits(Do you purchase games from overseas?) and you reading-up on PAL and NTSC video formats should be your first step.

Yes you'll need a capture card to record the video.

If that truly is your budget you will not be able to record in high definition. You'll need to look into a card that does standard definition. If you simply want to make a dvd from your recording I'd recommend looking for a used hauppauge 250 or 350 capture card. They record into mpeg2 that will be ready to import into any dvd creation software.

If you want to record into avi for something like divx you'll need to look into a different capture card.
