  1. a friend of mine has TIVO

I up course have Over the Air Digital with an ElGato set up

    to him!

but he wants to move some shows over to his HD

Im guessing that would be difficult as TIVO has some sort of ...whatever... to prevent this

    what the groups view?

if you can get over the air HD do it. of course there is no cable over the air as far as I can Sniff!

If your friend will be satisfied with an SD copy, and the recordings he wants to save are not copy protected you can possibly capture (re-record) the output of his TiVo to his Mac's HDD using the Elgato EyeTv.

If his TiVo supports the feature, and the programs he wants to keep are not copy protected, there is also TiVoToGo for Apple Macintosh computers. He will need Roxio Toast Titanium 8 or higher.

    kmttg should work
It's platform independent (written in java)
Will download the show from the tivo to his hard drive in a .tivo format and then it will convert it to an mpg for you automatically.
