Do you know what format they're in? I'm guessing maybe the original .m2ts format or maybe AVCHD. I would use MediaInfo on a PC to find out, not sure what to use for a Mac.

If there is more than one audio track with the files, try switching it to AC3 in VLCs audio menu, as I'm not sure VLC can decode DTS audio.

And for more Mac specific questions, we have a Mac Forum.

    And welcome to our forums.

If you have a couple of BluRay movies... I'm assuming they're in .mkv format correct?

If so, I understand your issue. I too had problems originally trying to play those files on my mac, but VLC seems to not work as well as is does for Windows.

So what I would recommend for you is to download the DIVX codecs (both audio and video) which will enable the QuickTime player itself to play those files (this works for me at leasst)

Here's the link: http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac (just copy and paste it into whatever internet browser you use and download and install all of the components EXCEPT the Divx Player... or else it will constantly try to play all .mkv files using that instead of QuickTime)

**Also, it may help to take a look at installing Perian for QuickTime as well -->this will allow QuickTime itself to play a multitude of different audio/video files**

    GL!
