  1. I recently installed DivX 8 and i really liked that it can make thumbnail previews for mkv videos (Most of the time). But if it can't generate a preview for an MKV clip, it brings the PC to its knees by gradually eating up all the RAM, the RAM usage goes from 20% to all the way above 98% and after about 5 minutes or so it goes back to normal but the PC still remains extremely slow and the only possible solution to get back to normal is a full reboot. This happens again and again when i open the folder which contains that particular MKV and i really don't want to disable the complete thumbnailing of videos. As a matter of fact, i installed DivX totally for mkv indexing. This only happens when divx can't able to create a preview for an MKV. I think out of 80+ MKV's on my hdd, only 3 mkvs are making this problem and those MKV's are not corrupt at all. I can play them fine using MPCHC or VLC and seeking, subtitle's everything works.
Here is the mediainfo detail of one of those videos.

  2. It looks like there's a bug in Divx8 if it's eating up all memory while attempting to build a thumbnail. You might try remuxing the MKV files and see if that will get around the problem.
