Half of files result in a muxing failed error but not sure why. Tried posting over doom9 but I haven't received any response from the developer. Anyone know of a similar app that I could try?

Don't know how that program works, if it makes just only a mpeg big file....and if you have FAT system ... forget !

FAT systems can't handle files bigger than 3.8GB...it is not precisely 4GB, is much less

Is strange but there is a lot of people with that jurassic file system

A very fragmented disk can be also a big problem, and long path names

I'm actually using ntfs with plenty of space. Also tried messing with the file name but that didn't help

favc can handle mkv files. You might give it a shot. Of course there is always the old fashioned approach.

I personally use OGMcleaver to demux the video and audio files from the mkv. Then I use avisynth to frameserve the video to My favorite video encoder. Encode the audio seperatly then author with my favorite dvd authoring software...but that's just me.

Favc will probably do what you want just fine.

freebird, the objective is maintaining 5.1 ac3
    video should already be fine,
and solution easy if one's willing to let go of ac3.

Andy you should be specific about errors.

    mkv2vob, is godawfully hackish,
and a quick skim through the thread shows several dependencies,
    and run ins...

maybe you could give this a try:

    Hey tripp!

I guess I should have read what mkv2vob actually does...
I assumed it was just another all in one app like favc, convertx, and the like..
Andyd you can ignore my post. It just bascially outlines how to convert to dvd compliant mpeg2 for dvdauthoring which is obviously not what you want.

    My apologies!

    I wonder

Do you use partitions in your disk ? is it a external disk ?

Because, as I said muxing or multiplexing fails mostly in this cases :

    - FAT systems
    - highly fragmented disks
    - long path names
    - partitions
    - external disks

I tested that tool and it works fine in my system
