I have a concert video,i believe the sound is mpeg4,here is the properties list

    Frame width 608
    Frame hight 352

    audio bit rate 745 kbps
    type video clip

This movie plays fine on wmp 11,on my P.C. but when i try to play it on my ps3 it is listed as unsupported media.

I have tried to convert it through "Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate"... to divx.. and other formats.

The result is, the video plays,on my ps3 but 20 mins into it, the sound sync is out,

I dont think i can use avidemux to re-sync part of this video only... to correct it.

My ideal is to be able to transfer this video clip to my ps3 hard drive and enjoy on my large screen tv,
KEEPING THE MUSIC IN SYNC WITH THE SINGER..

    All help,as always appreciated...Pensioner

The audio is DTS, which is unusual in an AVI file, and not supported by many players. The PS3 only plays DTS from authored DVD or Blurays. Simplest solution would be to use AVStoDVD to convert the file to a full DVD Video structure. It will keep the DTS audio, and the results will be playable in the PS3.

  6. The DTS track is quite surely taken from a BD, because its resolution is 24 bit (DTS-ES), while DVD standard accepts only 16 or 20 bits DTS streams.

wouldn't you be able to convert it to a bluray structure with something like tsmuxer and keep the high def audio and still play it on the ps3?

If the final intended destination is dvd then yes a lower audio resolution would be required.

You could use Multi-AVCHD to create a standard def AVCHD disc (given the video less than SD resolution). TSMuxer won't touch it because it is an avi file, so the video will have to be converted.

To be honest,no,i did try to open one of the files with nero showtime, but there was no sound.

I have now burnt to a dvd disc using nero, and it played fine in the ps3 but no sound in my normal dvd player.

I appreciate all the help from you guys, and just wondered if now,

it would be possible to use this burned copy to make an avi file so i can store it on the hard drive attatched to my ps3,

if not, then at least i have the dvd to watch..thanks.

If you are happy to convert the audio to AC3 then yes. I woul duse Xvid4PSP 5.0.36. Open the original AVI file, AVI for the output type, and Copy for the encoding. Change the Audio to AC3 and create a new AVI file. This should play in the PS3.

If you DVD player connected to a DTS capable amplifier by either optical or coax digital cable ? If not, that will be why you get no audio from your DVD player. If it is, check the bitstream settings for DTS audio.
