Im sure this has been posted before, but I have a UK macbook on snow leopard, and i have a region 1 dvd, yes i have 5 changes left on the dvd player, but is there any way i can avoid changing it. On windows there were programs like DVD43. Is there an alternative for the mac
Thanks

I have not seen any such software for mac. You could try upgrade/flash the dvd drive firmware, see http://forum.rpc1.org/viewforum.php?f=30 and it should be region free. Play with VLC.

Or rip the dvd with mactheripper and play it.

There is a program for the Mac called Region X, which would allow you to change the region setting as many times as you wanted. I used this on my old G5 tower and never had a problem with it. Better yet go for an external for the "foreign" DVD's, as mentioned above.

"Region X will allow you to change the region Apple DVD Player is set to, when and only when you play a movie from a region-free DVD drive."
