I have authored and played a Avchd dvd+rw 4.7gb on this player but when I try and make an AVCHD dvd+r 4.7gb the player recognizes the disc as a "blue-ray" disc and says that there's an error. The disc of course is not a "blue-ray but an Avchd disc. I am using Imgburn to create the disc. Why can I create a dvd+rw but not a dvd+r. I have tried burning with different disc manufactures. Any help would be appreciated.

It could be that the reflectivity of the RW disc is preferred by your player. It could be a media issue where the RW media is better than the R media. Anyway, for best results the ONLY RW media I would buy is Verbatim. The only DVD+R discs I would buy are either Verbatim (NOT the new lower quality Date Life series that Best Buy is selling) or Taiyo Yuden. Try using a better quality DVD+R discs and see if you get better results.
For all we know too you could be comparing apples to oranges in that your DVD+RW disc may be a completely different video from the DVD+R disc. Your post does imply but not explicitly state that the videos are the same on both discs, but I cannot simply assume that to be the case unless you say so. Too many posters before you have posted questions like yours where they imply that 2 different discs have the same video but only 1 plays and they want to know why. When we press them they admit that they aren't the same video, but they didn't think it mattered. It could even be that you are using different programs to create the DVD+RW and DVD+R discs from the same video. My guess is it's a media problem, but if you cut corners and failed to tell us that there really are differences between the contents of the +RW and +R discs or differences in how you made them, now would be a good time to admit it. -
Thank all of you for responding. I am quilty of posting twice. Sorry! The question regarding the discs quality is something I will explore and it maybe the answer. The movie is the same in all cases. The files were generated from the timeline to a AVCHD discs but not burned. The folders were then burned to disc using Imgburn ver. 2.50. The +rw disc was an old Memorex as was one the +r's the other +r was an hp. All purchased through Staples. I will try using the Verbatim disc but I may have to send for them as I'm not sure if stores near me would have the ones that were recommended. The movie itself (same files in all cases) has a menu and a small video in front for a motion logo. The movie is about 30 minutes long and is all photos. I have been making phot slide shows and longer movies for years but always in sd. This is the first hd project. I have also tried playing these discs on a Sony BDP-S350. All of the discs play without flaw. I do like the LG but since it is still under warranty, I wanted to eliminate any malfunctions. I also have an email out to their support and I am waiting for them to answer. Do you think that using -r media would give any different results? My burner is an hp dvd-ram gh40l and my os is windows 7 64 bit.

What are you using to create (not burn but actually make) the AVCHD files? Do you have some sort of master copy on the PC that you use each time you burn or do you re-create it every time you burn? We've had people who actually do re-create the same video every time they want to burn it, so I have to ask. If you are re-creating it each time, I can't rule out some difference in your process.
It's possible that DVD-R discs might do better or it may make no difference. You'd just have to test. But generally speaking on modern DVD or BluRay players there's no real preference for -R or +R and both work equally well.
AVCHD playback is tricky on some BluRay players and it's not always well supported. You might check the forums at http://www.doom9.org as I think they have a list of known AVCHD issues on various BluRay players in some forum dedicated to BluRay. -
The sames folders and files are used to make the different discs. I did not re-create the folders each time.

Tried the Verbatim +r (NOT the new lower quality Date Life series) with the same result. The disc is regonized as Blueray and is ejected. I had to register over at doom and can not post for five days, so I don't have their feed back yet. Maybe Lg will get back to me.

What software did you use to author the disc and how do you know it is AVCHD?
If you have CERTIFICATE folder then you most probably authored Blu-ray structure.Laugh and the world will laugh with you. Cry and you will be alone -
I use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate version 12.1. Going to make movie I chose Disc Type: AVCHD, in settings I chose Image Type: AVCHD. There is also another choice under Image type: BDMV (AVC). I have not tried this setting yet. That would require me to re-create all the folders or re-author the movie. I also tried skipping the "add certificate structure" when burning the folders from Imgburn but I got the same result. I'm not familiar with multiAVCHD. Can I use the m2ts files from my existing folders and then creaste a menu with multiAVCHD, then re-create the folders for burning with Imgburn? In my previous post, I mentioned that all the discs would play correctly on the Sony player. The player recognizes the discs as AVCHD. Thde problem appears to be the LG.
