ps2 vcd and svcd

I tried a vcd that I made from a tutorial on this site in my ps2 and it didn't recognize then I tried the svcd and the same thing happened. Is there something I can do to make it work or will it just not work with ps2's.

Sorry, PS2 does not know how to play VCD, SVCD.

It is only capable of decoding VOB's.


I wonder if Mini-DVD works.

it may be possible to download a softwere VCD player when you buy ur hard drive and ur network card.


Good news is ps2 will support both 56k and broadband.

ssjneo, do you have a chipped ps2? In order for it to work your ps2 must be chipped. Also I heard it is a waste because at the moment the ps2 can only play around 6 mins of vcd footage. My ps2 isn't chipped, so I can't confirm this, but I hope this helps.

The PS2 will not play vcd or svcd period. It definitely wont play mini-dvd either.

In the future I am sure there will be a simple plugin to allow vcd and svcd playback. I kinda doubt the PS2 will ever play mini-dvd but it there were ever a hardware player that could be hacked to do so, the PS2 would be the most likely choice.

If another idiot ask about vcds on PS2 I should just kill them.

A PS2 cannot play a damn vcd,svcd or any other damn thing. The only way to get your PS2 to play burned movies is to encode it in PSS format. PSS is a video/audio format.

So stop putting your damn vcd's in the thing, it ain't working. You got about 2-3 months until a public relese of the MPEG/VCD player for PS2 is released. I'm not releasing it until the no-swap mod is released to the public.
