I´m looking for an old version of TMPG DVD Author with no re-encoding options. I just want to edit several vob-files (from VIDEO_TS-files), cut, create chapters and a menu and, as output, a new "merged" DVD (VIDEO_TS-file). I have had an old version of the program with these options but have lost it. It seems that there is no program with these options available (free versions). Any suggestions?

Old versions of TDA are still available on the Pegasys website but they were not free and you need your
serial number or login to download them.

The versions of TMPG DVD Author that don't re-encode are 1.5 and 1.6.

I´ve found an old version (1.5) of the program, including serial number. After the program has been installed and opened, the program answers: "Could not initiliaze the registry, Log on as an Administrator an restart TMPGEnc."

After restarting the computer (incuding logging on Windows Vista) and opening the program, the result is the same: "Could not....".

Perhaps Windows Vista does not like this old TMPG-program version? Earlier I was using XP and could install this version of TMPG Enc DVD Author without any problems.

TDA 1.5 and 1.6 authorize and create files in your directory (like TDA 3.0 et al), Not certain, but you may have to let it access the internet and pegasys to authorize.

The AC3 plugin that I use with TDA 1.5 does this every time I open TDA:

    I see.
I have no discovered AVS VideoRemaker but with this program it does not seem possible to name the chapters which can be created by the program. Pity, as the program seems to be easy and fast to use and it does not re-encode the input-vob-files.

If you had the original license key: -or- if emailing pegasys would result in their sending you a legal key: I have TDA 1.5 burned to CD. It's 12MB, so you'd have to find a file sharing site for transfer. When I upgraded to TDA 3.0, I purchased the disc.

What happens if your internet connection is down? Does the "verifying license" hang, or does the program eventually start up ?

    davexnet,
On my copies of TMPGen Author 1.6 and 2.0 once the programs have been installed and registered when the registration window comes up on subsequent restarts you can answer renew license later and the program will start as usual. Not sure how many times this is allowed. Version 2.0 allows cuts on non-I frames this requires re-encoding at least those frames, I suspect, but have not verified if you only cut on only I frames the video does not get re-encoded. I would think the time base would need to be adjusted. Don't know if this is how version 2.0 works, but other authoring programs do it this way.

It makes no difference if the internetconnection is down or "up"; the "verifying license" hangs.
