  1. Hi all.

I just purchased a Blackmagic Intensity Pro to record Xbox 360 gameplay. Recording works fine, my problem is that I cannot output any video to my monitor. No 480i or 720p. I have an HP 2009m monitor which has a DVI input, so I am using an HDMI to DVI cable to go from the Intensity to the monitor. All I get is 1) a black screen or 2) a check cable message. There is no "signal out of range" message; my monitor supports 720p (I have watched 720p TV through my Comcast HD cable box). Also, I have played Xbox in HD through this monitor, however the setting said 1280x720 instead of 720p (aren't they the same?).

So my question is, do you think an HDMI splitter will solve this problem? I would go from my Xbox to the splitter, then one cable to the monitor and the other to the capture card.

Am I in need of a new display? Is the DVI input the problem? Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated.

Does the monitor work conected directly to the XBox 360 HDMI->DVI-D?

Computer monitors are problematic for direct progressive video. An LCD-TV would be more reliable.

Yes, it does work with that setup. That's why I am considering the HDMI splitter...Xbox to splitter to monitor and Xbox to splitter to capture card.

Also, I can watch TV in 720p.

720p (or 480p) is the only option for that computer monitor. The BlackMagic loop should work. An HDMI active splitter should work.

Thanks, I hope so...does anyone have any insight as to why the Blackmagic output wouldn't work but 720p TV does?

  6. Figured out the problem, when both of the HDMI ports are occupied on the Blackmagic, my video card won't work. So if the video card is already up and running, the HDMI ports get locked. I guess that's a problem with my motherboard. Anyway, the HDMI splitter should work.
