CCE225 crashes loading frameserved .AVI in XP

I use the following method:
DVD2AVI-->Vfapi-->Virtualdub-->CCE225

This works fine in Win98 but NOT in XP.

CCE crashes immediately when I try to open the avi file.
I am using compatibility mode Win98/ME for CCE and for Virtualdub and for VFAPIConv.

Is there a way to make the frameserving work in Windows XP?
Or do I have to create a dualboot to Win98?
