  1. I'm trying to convert a VOB file in WideScreen to DV to be able to edit it changing the chapters (they were set random).

I'm using ffmpegX (for MAC) but can't get the correct display ratio. Can you tell me the right settings, or other software I can use?

I know I can demux the file and then edit it in DVDSP (from Final Cut) but I don't have that expensive software so I will have to reencode to DV, to edit in ImovieHD.

  2. Why convert to DV and then back to DVD? A waste of time and quality. Just demux, create the chapters, and remux.

    1. Demux (PGCDemux)
    2. Edit the chapters (a Celltimes.txt with the frame numbers where you want to set the chapter points). .
    3. Remux, adding in your edited Celltimes.txt (Muxman)
    4. Replace the old one with the new one with better chapters using the 'Replace' button of VobBlanker. The total number of chapters should be less than or the same as the original number. If greater, then you had best do the replacing in PGCEdit (File->Replace VTST Titles).

I have no idea which programs might not work on a MAC, but you're going about this entirely the wrong way if all you want to do is change the chapter points. If you can't do it as I described, surely there are ways even a MAC user can demux and reauthor without reencoding the video twice.
