    Hello,

I have a 1028x720 uncompressed quicktime movie that I am converting to .avi using mpeg streamclip for use in a powerpoint presentation. In order to keep the powerpoint file at a reasonable size, my plan was to crop the movie to just the small part of the screen that is actually moving, and place it in the precise position over the matching background image. I'm having several problems:

-A green line down the right side of the .avi. I've dealt with this by not doing any cropping on the right side, that way at least the green is at the edge of the screen, not the edge of the action.

-The resulting video is slightly distorted...it won't line up correctly with the background image. I doublechecked this in photoshop in case it was a powerpoint issue, but it occurs there also...the distortion appears to be happening in the conversion. I'm wondering if this is a square/rectangular picture issue? Or maybe compression? I've set it to convert at 100% quality, and tried Apple Tiff and Apple Jpeg as the codec. My experience in video dates to the days of one-inch tape so I'm really not familiar with the subtleties of different codecs.

How much are you cropping? Try crop so you get a resolution/frame size that is even dividable by 16.

You can also try another editor like avidemux.
