I found the following freeware from a search with ask.com.
Has anyone heard of the freeware version of E.M. PowerPoint Video Converter from EffectMatrix
    http://www.effectmatrix.com/PowerPoint-Video-Converter/index.htm
If so, did anyone try it yet? Did you feel it was worth trying, or just a complete waste of time?

I currently use Camstudio with good results, but I was just wondering if there was any other freeware available that you have found to work better?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  2. Hi

My wife uses camstudio to recored her skype sesions with her sister since she has moved interstate, she loves it, but we have never used it for PP, but give E.M. a go, since camstudio is old & has a few bugs that need ironing out, it looks like they have stoped updating it, the last update was in 2003

    Thanks Denis.
I guess I'll fiddle with it this weekend.
I use Camstudio to record the ppt files as they play on screen.
I just thought it would be nice to be able to convert the ppt file without having to play it in realtime.

Starting with PP 2003, didn't MS release some sort of PP-to-WMV converted at one of the MS sites?

I downloaded something some many months ago, but the PP-to-FLV project was canned (thankfully! those slideshows were torture!), and I never got much further than download+install. I was going to go from WMV to FLV -- quality may have been subpar, but I didn't really care, the content was garbage and nobody was going to watch it anyway. Just another narcissist company executive wanting to show off her elementary-school-quality computer knowledge.

All the freeware/trialware I found at the time was complete and utter crap. Most likely I tried the one you've asked about. My project budget was $0 -- make that skinflint narcissist company executive!
