Hi all,
First post here. I've read the info that I could find on this topic, but am left with questions. I have a DirecTV PLUS DVR with a whole lot of programs I want to transfer to my computer, so that I can put them on DVD. I just got the computer today. It's a Dell Studio15 with DVD burner and Windows Vista.
From what I understand thus far, there is no direct way to transfer the content of my DVR to my PC. I believe I either need to get a seperate DVD recorder or get a capture card. Of course I'm not going to open up my new computer, so I'll need an external capture card.
So, my question is this: with my specific purpose in mind, what type or model/brand of capture card should I get? The notes I read from several months ago stated that there were limited compatability issues with vista and the usb-operated external capture cards. With this consideration, is there any safe bet for me?
By the way, budget is a concern. I'd like to do this as cheaply as possible.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Brandon
