I want to be able to turn HD TS files to (SD) DVD to send to a relative.
I tried the free HDTV2DVD but although it appears to run (i.e. no errors) it only encodes the sudio. I then tried the demo of SVCD2DVD and this worked fine (within its limitations). I thus splashed out on the full version (2.5) and it throws up several error messages including this one:

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.5
    Build: 2.5.5030.0

    Type: System.AccessViolationException

    Source: SVCD2DVD

Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

    InnerException:

Any suggestions as to the problem gratefully received.

You might have better luck getting an answer in the SVCD2DVD forum, here on VideoHelp, which the author (ChrissyBoy) frequents, though that's not the only area of VideoHelp he visits. Still, if you would like a moderator to move this post to that forum, just click on the Report This Post link at the bottom of your post, and mention it.

Have you tried running the program as an Administrator? Or in XP compatibility mode?

  4. Are you running SVCD2DVD as administrator? Did you install to directory other than 'Program Files'?

OK - read some suggestions and re-installed with folder directly in C drive (not in Program Files). Running as Administrator but still no joy - same error messages. Also will no longer play assets which DID work before (get continual rotating icon with lots of disc activity, and program appears to lock up).

Looks like a problem with the 2 pass.... can you try without that option please?

OK - seems to be progressing this time with one pass encode set - I have to go out but I'll tell you the final result in an hour or so.
That leaves the problem of why the asset play won't work? I went back to HDTV2DVD and it now doesn't work on that either. Could it be a problem with FFDSHOW?

It finished making a DVD from a single 30min HD movie (H264 TS) in just over 2 hours (not inc burning). Trouble is it has produced a VideoTS of 3.4GB which is way over max bit rate! Still at least it is running now, so I'll try tweaking a few things.

I did another with the 'Safe Max Bitrate' button pressed but it still comes out over 3GB for the VideoTS which is over the max DVD rate even for an average! It is curious since the bar graph in the SVC2DVD main panel shows under 2GB which would be OK. FWIW I've attached the log for this last session.
