    Hey guys,

I'm using BeSure/BeSweet to try to transcode an AC3 file to 6 separate WAV files to burn a DTS CD. All channels come out fine except the Right Surround channel, which comes out blank, every time. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I tried a couple different rippers to create the AC3 file, with different settings, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

HeadAC3he seems to only want to convert AC3 -> WAV..

Upon further inspection, it seems to be a problem ripping from a CD to AC3. Is there a recommended ripping program I could try?

Does it have to be a DTS CD ? An AC3 CD cannot be an option
Because recompressing AC3 into DTS is a lossy process.

Anyway, eac3to would be a bettter choice than HeadAC3he or the "Be-Something" apps.

If your AC3 source already is @ 44.1kHz,
you can simply convert it to a CD-ready .WAV with spdifer.exe
(included in the AC3Filter Tools package).

Well, I was following a guide for making a DTS-CD. According to the guide you must use BeSure/BeSweet to convert an AC3 file to 6-mono WAV files, each WAV file representing a DTS channel. Then SurCode takes those six mono-WAV files and makes one DTS WAV file, which you can burn like any normal, and listen to it through a home theater system with DTS capability. Unfortunately, I get every separate channel but the Right Surround, for some reason. Otherwise, everything works. I can burn the DTS WAV to a CD and I get sound out of every channel except the Right Surround.

Would an AC3-CD give you stereo sound, or surround sound? Making a DTS-CD seemed like an easy process, so I thought I'd try it. And except for this little snag it WAS pretty easy.

I'll have to look into trying eac3to.

Also, do you guys know of any other successful and non-lossy methods of making a DTS-CD? It didn't really sit right with me that converting from CD -> AC3 -> WAV was a lossy process, but I don't know any other methods.

And thanks to both of you for the help and software suggestions so far I'm pulling my hair out here because I seem to be doing everything right but it's just not working.

Which is exactly what you asked for.

    However, since you addded

this is clearer. That's a pretty silly way, I don't do DTS, but on general principle, you don't go through a lossy encoding if you can avoid it.

Maybe asking at a hifi audio forum like http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums might be more fruitful.

One quick question the original CD you used has how many channels?

decoding AC3 and/or DTS to any format is always lossy!
