Which computer/OS are you using? There are a number of converters that can do this. But, if you're using XP/Vista, you should probably have Windows Movie Maker handy - that should be able to encode the AVI to WMV, I believe.

I think Windows Media Encoder may work under Win98... can't remember if I did have it installed on one of my Win98 towers. You might also give WinFF a try. SUPER may or may not work, but I don't really recommend it at the moment. Any GUI encoder that uses ffmpeg or mencoder may work under Win98 - I can't be sure, though. If you're not against using command-line interfaces, you can always try using ffmpeg or mencoder directly, to encode to either Quicktime or Windows Media.

Yeah, but the latest versions of AVIDemux won't work under Win98, more or less. I ran some experiments on more than one version of the setup packages a while back for another topic, here... don't remember which topic, though.

You might also want to take a look at Quick Media Converter. I've used it on my win98se machines in the past. At least it's free, so it will only cost you time to try it out.

Format Factory should be able to convert to WMV and MOV under Win 98.
I haven't tried it myself under Win 98 (man who uses this anymore... ), but I see this in their website: "OS requirements: All 32 windows OS".
