I have successfully imported an Hi8 file --> DV Camcorder -->Firewire Card ---> Ulead Video Capture (output AVI) --> ULead MSP 6.0.0.2 (output 720x480 MPEG2) ---> Ulead Movie Factory ---> DVD-RAM Matsui 311. However, I'm losing the bottom 1/7 (approx) of the screen ... including the scene menus created by Ulead Movie Factory.

I'm under Windows XP. Windows Media Player plays the initial AVI (as Video Codec - DV VideoDecoder) but it also truncates the bottom part (about 1/7) of the screen. WMP also plays derivative MPEG2 files, but they are also truncated.

TMPGEnc 2.51, in preview mode, shows the same file without truncation. (The generated "Expert Setting for Source" reads Interlace, Field Order B, 4:3, 525 line, NTSC, 704x480). Again, TMPG shows this file at normal height.

Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.0.0.2 shows the file at normal size with settings (NTSC 29.97, Field Order B, Microsoft AVI, 24 bit, 720 x 480, DV Encoder Type 1).

When the MPEG2 from Ulead MSP is imported into Ulead Movie Factory, the bottom part is truncated. In MF, I can create and see full screen scene menus, but on the finished DVD-RAM, the bottom part of them is missing.

Why does the same AVI file appear bottom-truncated in some viewers and normal in others? When truncated, the picture looks normal - just cropped to a shorter height. Otherwise, the sound and picture are fine. I have tried difference settings for aspect ratio, but no combination seems to work.
