Hi, I want to try Tiffen Soft F/X 3 Glass Filter with my Optura Xi for people shots or 'more film look'. I had a chance to look at the filter itself and was not impressed with it's quality: it reflects a lot (apparently no coating), it's a little foggy and maybe not uniformly foggy... and I mean not those "engraved irregularities".... What do you think about the filter? any experience? is it just as it's supposed to be? I never used soft filters before... and my experience is only from photography, where I used to put only the high/highest quality filters on my lenses. For example, B+W multicoated 58mm 4xND filter which I have makes impression of quality.
Thank you!

Go to tiffen website from California, this is one of the best filter companies in the world, the hollywood movie industry uses mostly tiffen, the two others are Lee filter, this is a resin type plastic glass from England, B&W filters from Germany mostly for still photograhy, Tiffen will make you C39 resin or real glass but need a holder and some screw-in for various sizes. B&W in screw in only, Lee is only 100mm by 100mm holder flat panel, or 100mm x 150mm ND Grad type filters,
All are big money, so if you wish Tiffen $$$$$$ but very good products.
Tiffen will take custom orders for nearly anything, Cokin is considered sub grade, there are others, Hoya is considered very good, for a reasonable cost, if you can find what your looking for.
