breaking glass effect

Hi

I want to make a very short video showing an image which breaks as if it were glass, like a mirror.
A friend told me that I can do this with the 'bigger' video programs like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro. I don't have any of them and I don't intend to buy one for this rather small 'project' so I thought I'd ask here if anyone would be so kind and does this for me.

I'll give the details if someone agrees who can do this and agrees to help me out.

Do you just want it to crack, or to break into shards and drop ?

You might be able to do this type of effect in WAX2 from Debugmode.com.

It would look much cooler breaking into pieces and falling down leaving a black screen.

The first problem is, that it only shatters (as the name of the plugin sais ^^) the image. It doesn't look like as if something hits the image and it breaks down. Next problem is that I can't save any video:

Unable to create file!
** Some compressors require the video frame size to be a multiple of 4.
** Try changing your output frame width and height to multiple of 4 pixels and render.
Rendering over.

The problem is that I didn't want to buy/pirate a program just for this matter, not that I'm too lazy to do it myself.
As I said, I did the thing, it just doesn't look that realistic. Right now it's ok after all, but if anyone feels that he/she just has to do it better (with a better program etc) felel free to post here or send me a PM. =D
