Hi,
I have authored an AVCHD disk on a standard 4.7GB dvd.
The disk has a motion menu, about 8 chapters, and an intro video that plays before the menu.
I have tested the disk in a Sony blu ray player … and after a loooong load time, the intro video plays fine and moves on to the motion menu which also plays fine.
Chapter selection and play also fine.
BTW 1440x1080i is great compared to 720x576 !!!
However .. when I tried to play the disk on a work mates Acer laptop (with onboard blu ray player) the disk would not play.
If this possibly a problem with his software player … or is the problem more complex as in AVCHD not supported on a “PC” platform ?

What software player? PowerDVD?
Try also Splash, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre. -
Hi Baldrick
thanks for the reply.
It seems it was WinDVD, but it did play the supplied demo BD disk that came with the laptop.
So you think it is a simple problem related to the software player.
Will check out the player options you suggested.
I am thinking of buying a laptop with BD at some stage ... i would like to be sure it will play my AVCHD disks ok- provided the right sw player is installed.
