I transfered (Captured) a DV AVI file from my camera to my PC using windows movie maker. I wanted to keep the orginal AVI format file so I has a "Orginal quality" like what's on the tape copy. When I play it back in Window Media Player I have combing from the interlacing of moving objects not being alligned. If I pay in in Windows Movie Maker is looks fine. If I convert the file when I capture it to NTSC I alssee no problems. Why don't the orgianl AVI files get interlaced correctly so they look like the lower res NTSC? Do I need to add some filter or codec setting? Thanks I'm new to DVI conversion world.![]()

If you want to keep it in original quality it will always be interlaced. If you want to play it just on computers then make a new deinterlaced copy or use video players that can deinterlace like vlc media player.
And I'm moving you to our dv section. -
Can Windows media player be setup to perform the proper deinterlacing? If I wanted to create a de-interlaced AVI file would that be possible or are AVI's always interlaced?

I be outputting to HD displays like projectors and TVs. But I do use Windows Media player a lot. Can it be cofigured correctly?
As another thought should I just convert them to another format that will not show much degredation and just delete the AVI's?
