Odd thing happened when backing up recently using DVD Fab. Backed up (main movie only) then burned using DVD Shrink/DVD Decrypter combo. When I went to play the DVD, it was there in its entirety but the chapters were jumbled all over the place. For example, chapter 5 was the opening credits, chapter 1 was something about 10 minutes into the movie....weird. Any idea what could have caused that because I didn't rearange anything...

  4. Sure, had that happen a couple of months ago, but I forget which release it was, at the moment.

Anyway, it's probably a new protection scheme and Fab isn't yet updated to deal with it specifically. As I see it, wait a week or two for the next update to DVDFab. Or...try running FixVTS on the Fab rip, before opening the rip in DVDShrink. That's worked for me in the past. Alternatively, try FixVTS on a full disc rip if you haven't tried that already. (Main movie mode is chancy with new protections on Fab). Then open in Shrink.

P.S. Oh yeah it was WALL_E. If interested in some workarounds, do a search for threads on that movie.

I've heard of (but never seen) DVDs with a mixed-up chapter structure as a type of psuedo copy-protection. I've even seen people suggest it here (probably in the "How do I copy-protect my home made DVDs?" thread).

I read this again more carefully. I strongly suspect if you do a full disc rip, run FixVTS, then reauthor main movie in DVDShrink, your problem will be solved. Good luck and please tell us what (if anything) worked.

[EDIT] BTW, what movie? Is it a Disney release?

Every rip without fail I open with PGCedit+PSLplugin. That often finds a lot a lot of left over dummy cells from the ripping process and cleans them up for me.

You most likely selected the wrong title. Try title 43.

  11. Doubt was released by Miramax, owned by Disney. Nothing really new about the protection. Also nothing new about DVDFab scrambling chapters (as in WALL_E) when ripping in Main Movie mode. Again, try Full Disc mode, FixVTS, reauthor in DVDShrink.

Thanks to all. I just went to download updates to DVD Fab and realized I don't see any kind of link to check for newer versions. But I am using the freeware version. Is it not an option on the free version and so I have to uninstall and re-download or am I missing a menu somewhere?
