Hey guys. Here's an issue i am totally frustrated about. Recently i've moved to a 64bit version of Vista. Every since i did that, my video playback quality drastically dropped. I've started getting weird squares while playing AVIs (snapshots below). I've tried installing different codec packs, including 32bit and 64bit versions of K-lite. I've tried doing playing back VLC, and still nothing. I even went as far as reinstalling my OS.
Now, the movies are downloaded, and i am not sure whats their source is, and whether they were ripped from DVD and so on.

I am not sure what other useful information i could provide. But if you'd tell me,i'd gladly do so.
The issue is truly frustrating since i watch alot of movies, and invested quite a sum into my hardware accordingly.
    Thanks ahead guys.

Below is the snapshot from one of the movies. Pay attention to the squares on the left.

First, codec packs are not a solution to any problem, on a cause. Never install them.

Second, I would suggest what is happening is that your previous setup had some sort of smoothing enabled in the playback filters somewhere, and this is not turned on now. The block were, I suspect, always there, but hidden by your player. Downloaded movies are usually over compressed, and hence the artifacts.

So basically you are saying that one way or another the problem is with the movie it self, and only 3rd party program can fix it?

Yep. You download movies, this is usually what you get, of often worse. A good player can smooth some of it, and there is also the distinct possibility that you old system had a darker image or higher contrast, which can also hide a lot of issues.
