I burned some video files on a DVD, just as data files, not an Authored DVD.
They play fine when they're on my Hard Drive, but when I'm playing them from the disc, they LOOK good, but the audio is skippy/choppy.
This is the DVD drive I'm using:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106229
I'm on 2.8ghz Pentium 4, Windows XP, using Media Player Classic. I had the same problem with Windows Media Player.
Even when I copy the videos OFF the DVD to my hard drive, they play fine on the hard drive!
What do I do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What sort of audio do the files have ?
I know that my Pioneer has problems like this playing back AC3 audio from an AVI container. It does not have any problems if the audio is MP3, or if the AC3 is in the DVD structure. My other players happily play AC3 audio in an AVI container.Read my blog here.

Its happening with a variety of videos. All dvdrips. xvid with mp3 or ac3 audio. Its not a codec issue, its more of a speed issue or something. The audio gets choppy when the computer is trying to play videos when its doing a bunch of other memory intensive things. What is the problem here? Please tell me anything I can do about it?

Nooo, I'm saying that it also happens when doing memory intensive things. It happens even when I'm not running anything other than the video.

try another media player, KmPlayer from http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/ is a good free one

Remux the audio and video -- one frame of video, one frame worth of audio. Burn to a new DVD. Better?

As Gunslinger pointed out, it's possible your drive isn't using DMA mode. It's also possible you are using low quality media, or a media the Lite-On is having trouble reading.
On a side note, is the video also choppy?Google is your Friend
