Recently when try to watch avi's on my pc I am having this problem of a scrolling sort of line coming down the picture. I'm not sure how to describe it but it seems to be like a small wave, sometimes it's a 10 to 15 minute gap between them, other times it can be a few consecutive ones so it is totally random.

Sound is not affected and lipsync is not affected. All my drivers are up to date. Have tried the latest versions of KMPlayer & GomPlayer, OS is Vista 64bit with the latest Vista Codec Pack running at default settings

    Any help would be appreciated

    Sounds like tearing.

Try change the monitor refresh rate. Or are you playing on your tv?
Try play with vlc media player or smplayer.

And google for tearing for more info.

  4. You have tearing -- the image is being updated while it is being displayed. So part of the image you see is from one frame and part from the last. Any time there is motion you will see a tear in the image. You need to set up your system so that page flips happen only during the vertical refresh interval. I'm not sure if Vista64 is going to be able to do this without disabling the Aero interface.

In KMPlayer, while a video is playing, right click on the player window and select Video (advanced) -> Video Renderer ->... try the different options. Also in Options -> Preferences -> Video Processing try the Fix Broken VSync option.

Thanks, I think I may have fixed, went through any changes I have made recently and the only new thing was that I was using Stardock ObjectDock, so I moved the menus I had made to my secondary monitor and the tears seemed to have stopped
