when i have installed Max Payne and want to play it. the cd starts but after like 10 sec. nothing happends.. same with Operation flashPoint

my cd reader was: Compaq SD-612B

but i upgraded it with a fireware from http://www.firmware.fr.st/ ... and the firewire i used was:

    SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-612B 0.6

  2. Hi,

Problems is probably the DVD-Rom player itself. It's a know problem that some DVD players have problems with protected cd's. Same thing happend with the new dune game. The game has 4 CD's. ! setup and 3 play discs. The setup disc in heavily protected, while the other 3 are not. The setup disc is so protected that a lot of player are unable to install from the original disc. Westwood therefor release a unprotected setup file for those people with dvd-rom/cd-player which have this problem.
If you can get your hands on a regular CD-Rom (Prefurably a good brand) try playing on that.
