Hello. Please i have this problem. On my Vista home premium i have Microsoft mpeg-2 decoder and Nero DVD decoder for mpeg-2 files decoding. As system decoder in MPC or Kmplayer(with external filter)is used always Nero decoder. I need use microsoft mpeg-2 decoder, he produce better IQ. I tried DECCHECK apilication from microsoft, but without avail. How can i use microsoft mpeg-2 decoder as system default or prefered decoder for any direct show player? Thanks for help, sorry for my bad english and regards.

  2. MPC is a directshow player, you can use radlight filter manager to unregister or lower or increase the merit of various filters

You can use graphstudio to visualize what decoders are being used by rendering a file

KMplayer has internal filters and isn't entirely based on directshow, but it gives you the option to change decoders - the change in radlight won't affect KMplayer

  4. Just render the video in graphstudio . You can change the merit in graphstudio, or radlight (e.g. you can lower nero, raise MS MPEG-2, so that MS will be preferred)

Thanks but this isnt works. In Radlight i cant use merit settings(i get error screen when change the merit), maybe beacuse i use Vista Home Premium, not XP. Only working thing is disable Nero video and dvd decoder in Installedcodec program. I want use microsoft mpeg-2 decoder in WMP11, its some way here? Thanks for help.

  6. You can also try changing the merit in graphstudio, I'm not sure if it's Vista compatible

I am certain it works in XP, I don't use Vista

Thanks, Graphstudio works well. Now i can set the merit on all filters. But filters management in Vista is worse then in XP. No utility like DECCHECK.

Don't know if it'll work the same, but when I did a websearch for a similar utility for Vista, I found this:
