I know that in Windows XP, you could not burn DVDs in "My Computer".

Can Windows Vista burn DVD (data DVD) in "Computer"? Or is it still only limited to CDs?

Well, Windows XP can write directly to DVD-RAMs formatted with FAT32,
    which is a start.

However I still think it's a bad idea to use a file manager (namely Windows Explorer)
    for burning CDs or DVDs.

Thanks for the replies. I'll use a software instead.
For data DVD+R, do I use ISO9660/Joliet or UDF? If UDF, which type: UDF 1.0, UDF 2.0, UDF 2.5?

XP can burn DVDs in Explorer since 2005. Back then they released a imapi2 update - well unknown
API - so still a bit of scripting needed.

Tried it once, and yes - it worked. But after that: disabled imapi as always...

And use UDF for DVDs. But any burning software (even imapi2) normally chooses the right format. Guess Windows uses version 1.5 for Data. XP canīt author a Video DVD with UDF 1.02.

  7. If you are going to use Vista built in burning engine, I suggest you choose to make the disc a mastered disc. This will eliminate problems.
