  1. I have a weird DAT file that only Windows MP can play. I tried vcdgear to convert to mpeg, but vcdgear said it couldn't recognize the DAT file. What are my options here? Is there a program that parses the DAT into dv/wav streams so I can use TMPG encoder to make a compliant mpeg? The reason I want to convert it is to watch it on my TV via svideo. Also, it'd be nice to I could eventually burn it to a vcd. Thanks in advance.

    You can download DVDCutter from www.jummpa.com
    Run DVDCutter->Tools->MPEG Tool Box->DAT2MPG
    Let us konow of your success

  3. hmm I'm not having much luck running these programs. I tried dvdcutter but it keeps hanging on me (control alt del to end the nonresponding program). I also downloaded vcdgear 3.0 and that doesn't even start up (while vcdgear 2.0 runs fine). Are there any other programs like this, or one that simply can re-encode a dat file (too bad tmpg can't). Arghh.. thanks in advance folks.
